Lise Strathdee

Born in London and bred in Italy and New Zealand. Lise is passionate about fashion, art and the beauty of travel.

Graduating in fashion & textile design in 1984 from the Instituto Marangoni of Milan, Lise went full speed ahead catapulting herself into the upper echelons of the Italian fashion scene. After two decades of working within the industry and with stints in India, Japan Hong Kong, New York, Paris and London, Lise took a break from fashion when an opportunity to work within print media presented itself.

The comission to curate a special edition on New Zealand for Italian interiors magazine Case da Abitare got Lise back to New Zealand and discovering the Hokianga.

Captured by the pristine beauty and sense of freedom that the Hokianga inspires, Lise felt that the time was right to start her own fashion retail venture, leave the speeding bright lights and big cities behind to experience what life is like in a rural and remote location.

The Hokianga is proving to be a constant source of style inspiration for Lise and the Outpost is a buzzing meeting point of people from all over during the long hot summers.

Further detail on Lise's professional background can be found at www.lisestrathdee.com.

Ramona Cording

Originally from the Hokianga and the Far North, Ramona currently resides in Auckland where she is studying BFA at Elam School of Fine Arts.

Ramona has been making her own clothing designs for ten years and is interested to make one-offs to order.

She's currently working with Possum Fur, "as it is a beautiful and good resource to work with considering the damage possums are doing to our natural environment".

Ramona is also a keen surfer and dancer and will be joining the Outpost over summer - adding her sunshine style and sales savvy to the floor.

Adam Turner

Born in the leafy English county of Buckinghamshire he lived all over the world as a child, came of age in Bethnal Green, East London in the 80s and finally grew up(!) in Lochcarron in the North West Highlands of Scotland. He has now washed up on the shores of the Hokianga Harbour - which he persists in referring to as the 'loch'.

Where do these people come from?

The proudest moment of his life so far, apart from designing this website of course, was being accused by a Magistrate, in 1985, that he was a 'politically motivated man'.

Adam has been building and managing websites (and winning awards) for over 13 years - journalism, lumberjacking and fish farming being just some of the many other things done in his previous lives.

He'll happily argue the toss with all and sundry the fact that most aspects of the 'Human Condition' can best be illustrated by, and within, a game of cricket.
